Senator Greg Ball’s (R, C, I  – Patterson) ‘Senator On Your Corner’ traveling event is heading to Pleasantville. The event gives residents an opportunity to meet Senator Ball and also a chance to ask any questions or voice any concerns they may have.

The event will be hosted on Saturday, June 8^th from 10AM – 11AM at Memorial Plaza in Pleasantville N.Y.

Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson) will be hosting a School Safety Roundtable on Saturday, June 8th at Westlake High School with the Mount Pleasant Central School District Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Susan Guiney to address school safety and mental health issues.

During the roundtable, the participates will give input on ideas and legislation to improve school safety in our area and throughout the state. In addition to school safety, the roundtable will also focus on discussing mental health issues such as providing funding to schools and communities for adequate mental health.

The Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents in a recent letter noted that while most gun violence against children occurs away from school, in the last twenty-five years nearly forty school shootings have resulted in deaths of  111 students and  26 school personnel.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Senator Ball is teaming up with the TOUGHKids Championship Triathlon to encourage kids to get active and live a healthy lifestyle. The race is for ages 4 – 14 and has been designed to inspire, motivate, and support youth activity and introduce kids to health & fitness through triathlon.

Senator Ball will be honoring the 2nd class of Women into the Women of Distinction Hall of fame on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Putnam County Emergency Services Building at 2pm.

Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson), Heroes in Transition, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 21, are asking the public to “sponsor a vet” to help them send over one hundred World War II veterans to visit the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. this fall.

“In honor of all of the World War II veterans I am happy to announce that I will be organizing a free trip for them to visit the World War II memorial in Washington D.C. According to the Veteran’s Administration, our World War II veterans are dying at a rate of 600 per day,” said Senator Greg Ball. “These brave men and women gave so much to fight for our nation’s safety and freedom and it is my honor to give them an opportunity to see the national monument that was created in honor of their service.”

The trip, which will take place on September 17^th is free and open to all WWII veterans. Chartered buses will leave from Senator Ball’s District Office in Brewster, NY and take the veterans to Washington D.C., where they will place a wreath at memorial the in honor of all WWII veterans from the 40^th Senate District. Heroes in Transition, a sponsor of the event, will be accepting donations to help pay for the busing and food for the veterans.

The sponsorships range from $25 lunch sponsors, to $1,000 bus sponsors. Anyone interested in donating can go to the Heroes in Transition’s website: heroesintransition.org and make a donation online.
