Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos and Senate Republican Campaign Committee Chairwoman Cathy Young today named Hudson Valley State Senator Greg Ball as a member of the Party’s central campaign committee.
“In just his second term in the New York State Senate, Greg Ball has proven himself to be a staunch advocate for veterans and a steady voice for the middle-class, whether it’s his laser-like focus on helping businesses create new private sector jobs or his tireless efforts to enact meaningful tax relief for families. In a very short time, Greg has become a valuable member of our team, and he’s exactly the right person to fill this position,” Senator Skelos said.
“Greg Ball’s blue-collar, working-class background gives him an ability to connect with people on a very personal level about what is really important and what is at stake. Greg will be a tremendous asset in 2014 and beyond, and I look forward to working with him to grow our conference so we can continue to deliver for taxpayers and their families,” Senator Young said.
Senator Ball fills the position left vacant when Senator Young was elevated to Chairwoman of SRCC by Senator Skelos. He will play an important role in decision-making and candidate recruitment, among other areas.
Senator Young is the first-ever woman to serve as Chair of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee, and Senator Ball, at 35, becomes the youngest member of the committee.
“This is an exciting opportunity to work in the field to expand our important majority. I am honored to be named as a member of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee and I look forward to the work ahead. Homeowners in the Hudson Valley are being forced out of New York State everyday and Senate Republicans represent the last line of defense for seniors, taxpayers, working families and struggling small business owners throughout this great state,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I look forward to continuing and expanding upon the great work we have begun by creating jobs, lowering taxes and shrinking the size of government. I am eager to now play an essential role in recruiting and assisting candidates who, once elected, can help us achieve these goals to make New York State great once again.”
Elected in the fall of 2010, Greg Ball represents the 40th Senate District comprised of eastern Putnam County, northern Westchester County and Southern Dutchess County. He is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs, and is one of only two State Senators appointed to the Governor’s Savings and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Committee. He is the son of a postal worker and resides in Patterson.
The other members of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee are Senators Fuschillo, Golden, Nozzolio and Chairwoman Young.
