9WSYR: BILL INTRODUCED TO ALLOW SELF-DRIVING GOOGLE CARS ON NY STREETS

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – New York Senator Greg Ball has introduced a bill to the Senate that would test a new type of vehicle in the state.

The new Google car is unlike anything else on the road because it drives itself.

Toyota will team with Google to test these vehicles in order to reduce the number of accidents and help the flow of traffic.

They use lasers and GPS to help guide car down the roadways.

California, Florida and Nevada have introduced legislation to test the vehicles.

In 2011, car crashes were the number one cause of death among US teens.

One in six of those deaths were caused by distracted driving.

Researchers hope these cars will reduce the risk of future accidents while providing a safer and easier driving experience. (ARTICLE)
