ASSOCIATED PRESS: IRENE DISASTER AID EXTENDED TO 3 MORE NY COUNTIES

ALBANY, N.Y. — Three more upstate New York counties will be getting disaster assistance to cover losses from Tropical Storm Irene.

State and federal officials announced Thursday that aid would be available to individuals and local governments in Columbia, Putnam and Washington counties. Twenty other counties had previously been approved for disaster assistance.

People can apply for assistance by calling the FEMA Hotline at 1-800-621-3362. Applicants can also register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or with a web-enabled mobile device or smartphone at fema.gov.
