Albany, N.Y. – 1/14/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C, I) announced that his proposed legislation to protect law-abiding pistol owners has been included in a comprehensive package being voted on tonight.

The legislation was introduced by Ball after The Journal News Newspaper, a Gannett Company, recently posted a map on their website that unethically reveals homeowners with pistol permits in Westchester and Rockland Counties.

“As a community we stood firm on principle and fought for commonsense against the idiocy of the Journal News. Tonight we have won a big battle against their unwarranted invasion of privacy and I am glad to have the support of the Governor and many in the Legislature to set the record straight and put an end to this public safety nightmare. I will continue to stand solidly behind my local officials in Putnam County, and provide them all necessary support moving forward, yet I am personally grateful that the Journal News will never be able to do something as dangerous and idiotic as this again.”
