Ball Tells Tax Hike Mike, “Stop Ducking Term Limit Pledge. Sign Now!”
9/20/2010 – Assemblyman Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) is challenging his opponent Tax Hike Mike to 14 debates, double the number his opponent has proposed during the six weeks before the November 2 election. In a brief statement, Ball said:
“There’s nothing more American than a good debate, except maybe apple pie. I’m glad to see Tax Hike Mike has finally gotten around to talking about debates. I have been pushing for a series of debates for months. Plus anything that keeps him out of the County legislature where he continuously raises our taxes is a good thing, even for a few moments. Seven debates is simply not enough and I question why my opponent is ingoring Dutchess County and all but ignoring Putnam County? In his schedule of debates he wants five in Westchester County and two in Putnam County. The voters of the 40th Senate District deserve better and that is why I propose a 14 debate schedule, with five in Westchester County, five in Putnam County and four in Dutchess County.”
Tax Hike Mike, a lawyer and career politician, has rubber stamped Andy Spano’s tax increases and spending hikes, rubber stamped pay raises for both Andy Spano and Boss Ryan, and was the architect approving Westchester County’s miserable affordable housing debacle. Showing his true political stripes, as a do-anything, say-anything politician, Tax Hike Mike has offered a debate challenge after avoiding the Ball Campaign’s requests to debate for months. Previously, Tax Hike Mike used many excuses to avoid earlier debates, suggesting he wanted to ‘wait until the primary was clear.’
“Seven debates within Tax Hike Mike’s home district are simply not enough. I look forward to meeting Tax Hike Mike in the arena of ideas, anywhere, anytime, with half my brain tied behind my back. Let’s have debates for the residents of Kent, Dover, Amenia, everywhere to hear about Tax Hike Mike’s record, and see this chameleon of a politician on show, in person. Let’s have debates for the Residents of Western Putnam County, for the Residents of Pawling and Beekman, and for the residents of Cortlandt and Peekskill. I welcome the opportunity to debate Tax Hike Mike, not just in his handpicked locations, but throughout the 40th Senate District.”
In coming days, the Ball Campaign will offer more information on the series of debates.
While the voters of the 40th Senate District wait for Tax Hike Mike’s response, the voters are also waiting to hear if Tax Hike Mike will accept Greg Ball’s challenge to his opponent to sign a 3-term limit commitment for all elected positions he holds now and in the future, a challenge that Tax Hike Mike failed to answer.
