Ball Demands Tax-and-Spend Murphy Sign Clean Campaign Pledge, and Cease Push Polling
Ball’s campaign challenged Murphy to a debate in Somers last week, an invitation that Murphy’s handlers welcomed. However, despite a recorded acceptance of the invitation from the Tax-and-Spend Campaign (audio attached), Murphy immediately issued a statement accusing Ball of avoiding another debate (see photos).
Tax-and-Spend Murphy’s campaign has included the lowest of political tactics: disgusting, untraceable mailers, courting former girlfriends to head up mini-smear campaigns (see release) and slanderous push polls (read transcript). Local voters, including Women4Ball, have repeatedly exposed this Albany run campaign for avoiding the issues and being beneath the honor of this district, the voters and even the candidate herself.
Ball said in a brief statement today, that he will gladly appear at tonight’s local debate if his opponent, who is now more than 30 points behind in a recent poll, ends the push polling, and signs the ‘Clean Campaign Pledge’. Today, Ball issued a challenge demanding that his opponent take full responsibility for her disgusting campaign.
Ball said, “Enough is enough and it’s time for my tax-and-spend opponent to cut the strings from Albany and demand that her insider puppeteers end the push polls and slander. Short of that, she can throw mud in a room by herself.”
Even when specifically exposed for push-polling, and given the chance to disavow the tactics, Tax-and-Spend Murphy has blatantly refused to cease the slander campaign and has instead endorsed these below the belt tactics.
“I love nothing more than a good debate, except maybe apple pie, and the people deserve a debate that focuses on real issues. I wear it as a badge of honor that I am a grassroots candidate with no support from the Albany insiders. For four years the local good old boys and Albany powerbrokers have attacked me relentlessly for standing up to the corruption, illegal alien slumlords and political patronage. Tax-and-Spend Murphy, financed and controlled directly from Albany, is only their latest puppet. For months she has refused to admit to her pro-tax, pro-death, pro-illegal alien positions and has been hiding behind their smear campaign. Her slanderous campaign is beneath the voters and taxpayers of the 40th Senate District. When she wants to act like an elected official, put down the mud, talk about issues that real people care about and disavow her Albany handlers and their push polling I’d love to meet her in the arena of ideas,” Ball said.
A League of Women Voters Candidate Forum is scheduled for tonight in Carmel. Ball says he will appear at the forum to debate Tax-and-Spend Murphy if she signs the Clean Campaign Pledge.
