Brewster, N.Y. – (7/12/12) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) filed with the New York State Board of elections today, literally tripling the number of signatures necessary to qualify on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. It must be understood, that while always victorious in previous elections, Greg Ball has never had the benefit of these three party lines, combined.

In 2010, without a party endorsement, Senator Ball announced his candidacy for State Senate. As he had done twice in the past, Senator Ball easily defeated his opponent in a Republican Primary. Additionally, Senator Ball ran an Opportunity To Ballot campaign that won the Conservative nomination as a write-in candidate with 66% of the vote, which has been said to be the greatest write-in victory ever in New York State history. No such OTB campaigns have been necessary this year.

In the 2010 General Election, Senator Ball used the 8,388 votes he received on the Conservative line to defeat the democrat and became the State Senator representing the 40th District. Having three party lines in 2012, places Senator Ball at a real strategic advantage, especially when coupled with the existing strong grassroots operation.

“I love this part of the job, getting out and meeting the people one by one, thousands every week, listening to their concerns and feedback,” Greg said. “Many of my top goals including the MTA Payroll Tax Repeal, cutting middle class taxes and the Property Tax Cap have been accomplished by working with Governor Cuomo, in a bipartisan and effective fashion, and I’m totally focused on finishing the good things I have started to help seniors, small business owners, veterans, and taxpayers.”

“Team Ball’s impressive grassroots efforts resulted in nearly 600 Conservative, 800 Independence and nearly 4,000 Republican signatures, literally tripling the amount needed to qualify and then some. Greg’s grassroots steamroller, with wide ranging community support, has always led him to decisive victories and these numbers show that his grassroots machine with deep community support, in all parties, is fully alive and well,” Westchester County Republican Chairman Doug Colety commented today. “We are extremely confident that Senator Ball, based upon a track record of results like repealing the MTA Payroll Tax, capping property taxes, cutting middle class taxes and being an advocate for seniors, veterans, and working families, will post an enormous showing in November.”

“We must remain focused and continue to get New York State back on track! This Senate seat literally decided the balance of power in the previous election, it will certainly remain a critical seat and it’s absolutely vital that we work together to keep the balance of power out of the hands of New York City’s ‘Tax and Spend’ crowd,” Senator Ball said.

Chairman Doug Colety followed up in his enthusiasm, by saying: “This trifecta of the major party line with a coupling of the two largest minor party lines places Greg Ball in an unbeatable scenario. Add to this the fact that Greg and his team work ceaselessly and that his polling numbers are through the roof, we are extremely confident in maintaining this seat while redoubling our efforts to the south to build the vitally important Senate Republican Majority.”

“Moving forward I will use my voice to continue to fight for real tax relief, a statewide spending cap, a freeze of school taxes for seniors, a balanced budget that smartly cuts government spending and roots out waste and expand upon my important work as Chair of the Senate’s Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security Committee,” said Senator Ball.

Chairman Michael McCormack from Dutchess County, said: “Nobody has Greg Ball’s energy or enthusiasm and we are certain that he will post a huge victory, not only in the Dutchess portion of his district in November but throughout. Today’s filing of 566 Conservatives, 827 Independences and nearly 4,000 Republicans, with more pouring in, is an outright demonstration that Greg Ball’s grassroots machine, with support from all parties, age groups and regions is still in full swing.”

Senator Ball said his grassroots campaign is surging with hundreds of donations totaling nearly $200,000 in the last campaign filing cycle alone. Team Ball has been, and continues to, run an aggressive social media fundraising campaign and will be pushing until midnight tonight.

Senator Ball also recently unveiled his new website, which is fully integrated with his social media sites to offer constituents around-the-clock updates. The homepage has several live feeds that display the latest news, photo galleries, events and what is happening on Senator Ball’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. A full text search engine will allow visitors to search keywords across the site including issues, legislation, and news release content.

“The contributions coming in, $10, $20 and $50 at a time, are exciting because they are a testament to our wide range of support. This new website will be our virtual campaign headquarters and I welcome everyone in the community to take a look and join the conversation!” Senator Ball said. “I have never been so energized about a campaign and view it as a huge opportunity to showcase a long list of positive results. This campaign is going to be a positive, grassroots campaign focused completely and simply on ‘Gettin’ It Done!’”

During his first session in the Senate, Senator Ball said the following milestones were accomplished:
