Brewster, N.Y. – (7/23/12) –Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) presented Joseph Perucci, Jr. of Brewster Boy Scout Troop 1 with a New York State Senate Proclamations for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at the Italian American Social Club in Brewster, N.Y.

Eagle Scout is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The Eagle Scout is an honor that is held for life and is said “once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”

“It is a pleasure to be here today Joseph. There are only a small percent of scouts that ever make it to this ranking and I would like to congratulate him on all the hard work he has done to achieve this great honor,” said Senator Greg Ball. “Joseph is a great leader that we can all be proud of. I look forward to great things from him in the future.”

Joseph cited his most memorable scouting experience as a trip to Big Munson Island in the Florida Keys. This Island Adventure combined camping on a remote 100+ acre island, snorkeling, trolling for sport fish, kayaking through red mangroves, and exploring the flora and fauna of Big Munson Island. The troop loaded all their food, water and equipment used during the adventure into military canoes and paddled for 4 hours from the mainland to the outer island. They camped for 7 days in a rugged outdoor setting with no running water, electricity or shelter.
