ALBANY — State Senator Greg Ball and other lawmakers came together at the State Capitol on Tuesday to rally for support of the New York Jobs for Heroes program.

The program will give state contract preference to small businesses owned by disabled veterans. Many companies have a hard time figuring out how to effectively utilize the special skills veterans come back with when returning to civilian life.

Drexel Hamilton, a financial firm founded by a disabled veteran, says vets are a crucial asset.

If it passes, New York would become the 45th state to have such a program. (ARTICLE)
