Pougkeepsie, N.Y. – (12/13/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R,C – Patterson) met with women from all over Dutchess County on Saturday at the Dressed For Success Business Attire Fashion Show and job fair, which was hosted by Dutchess County Dress for Success and the Ridley-Lowell Business and Technical Institute.
Dress for Success is a non-profit organization that promotes economic independence for disadvantaged women by providing them with professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life. The women who come to Dress For Success are from all ethnicities and races, and 70% are single mothers raising two or three children. Most were living at poverty levels at the time they received the organization’s services.
“Dress for Success Dutchess County is pleased to partner with Senator Greg Ball and Ridley-Lowell Business and Technical Institute for the Dressed for Success Business Attire Fashion Show,” said Dutchess County Community Action Agency CEO Elizabeth Spira. “Through our programs we provide interview ready women with one of the most important tools to take into the workforce – confidence.”
Since its inception in 1997, Dress for Success helped more than 550,000 women and continues to assist women in over 50,000 cities around the world. In addition, the organization has an over 50% average in helping women further their education, improve their credit score, receive promotions and salary increases and retention of jobs.
“Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute was happy to support an event for such a great cause,” said Katrina Gobins, organizer of the event. “Dress for Success Dutchess County provides our graduates with the appropriate tools and support to help them re-enter the workforce. We were pleased in helping them reach the community and we look forward to an on-going partnership with Dutchess County Community Action partnership.”
