North Salem, N.Y. – (6/30/12) –Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) presented Warren Thomas Lucas, James Clark Batchelder, Couri Leuschner, Peter Zambellietti, and Russell Barnard of North Salem Boy Scout Troop 1 with a New York State Senate Proclamations for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at North Salem High School Auditorium.
Eagle Scout is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The Eagle Scout is an honor that is held for life and is said “once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”
“It is a pleasure to be here today with these young men. There are only a small percent of scouts that ever make it to this ranking and I would like to congratulate all of them for their hard work to achieve this great honor,” said Senator Greg Ball. “They are all great leaders that we can all be proud of. I look forward to great things from them in the future.”
“It has been a pleasure to watch this unique group of young gentlemen to rise to the rank of Eagle Scout in our troop, and they have set a great example for the upcoming scouts,” said Karen Roach, Advancement Chairwoman of North Salem Troop 1.
For Warren’s project he created an outdoor multi-use brick patio for Kennedy Catholic High School, in Somers NY. James created a program for Southeast Seniors as his project, to aid them in saving energy by evaluating the heat loss from their home. Couri project was creating playground storage units and books/games cases which he stocked for the Westchester Exceptional School in Purdys, NY. Peter completed major erosion control and stream clean up for Mt. Lakes Camp in our county park for his project and Russell’s created six maps and brochures of open land parcels for the open land foundation.
