Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, has become the newest member of the Senate Republican Conference’s Campaign Committee, filling the seat left vacant when Sen. Catharine Young, R-Olean, was promoted to serve as the committee chair.
His colleagues expect Ball to play an important role in candidate recruitment for the 2014 legislative elections.
“Greg Ball’s blue-collar, working-class background gives him an ability to connect with people on a very personal level about what is really important and what is at stake,” Young said. “Greg will be a tremendous asset in 2014 and beyond.”
Serving his second term in the Senate, Ball represents the 40th Senate District overseeing eastern Putnam County, northern Westchester County and southern Dutchess County. At age 35, Ball is now the youngest member of the Campaign Committee.
“Greg Ball has proven himself to be a staunch advocate for veterans and a steady voice for the middle-class,” said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos. “Whether it’s his laser-like focus on helping businesses create new private sector jobs or his tireless efforts to enact meaningful tax relief for families.”
As a member of the committee, Ball will play a key role in recruiting and assisting candidates for Republican offices across the state. Republicans are outnumbered by Democrats in the chamber but share control of the Senate through a deal struck with the four-person Independent Democratic Conference.
“I am honored to be named as a member of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee and I look forward to the work ahead,” said Ball. “I look forward to continuing and expanding upon the great work we have begun by creating jobs, lowering taxes and shrinking the size of government.”
Ball is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs. He is one of only two state senators appointed to the Governor’s Savings and Government Efficiency Committee.
“In very short time, Greg has become a valuable member of our team, and he’s exactly the right person to fill this position,” said Skelos.
The other members of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee are Sens. Fuschillo, Golden, Nozzolio and Chairwoman Young. (ARTICLE)
