State Sen. Greg Ball is looking for high school students to join his Student Advisory Council.

He is assembling “highly motivated and determined” students from the 40th Senate District, which includes Lewisboro and Katonah.

Anyone interested in joining may contact Suzi McDonough at 845-279-3773 or mcdonoug@nysenate.gov.

The Student Advisory Council was put in place by Mr. Ball last year to work on issues that are important to students. Last year, the council focused on combating bullying, texting while driving, social media privacy and minimum wage increases. Students also traveled to Albany and had the ability to introduce, debate and vote on legislation on the New York State Senate floor.

“When I was a student I wanted to get involved but felt my elected officials were unapproachable,” Mr. Ball said in a press release. “I really wanted to change that perception once elected. It’s so important that we encourage our youth to get active and involved in our communities.”
