Garrison, N.Y. – (8/25/12) –Senator Greg Ball (R, C-Patterson) joined Willy Nazario of Cortlandt at his surprise 65th birthday party this past weekend in Garrison, N.Y.

Willy, a long time veterans’ advocate, was awarded with the “National Patriot of the Year” award. Nazario was selected to receive the award out of the 45,000 Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) members nationwide.

Nazario, who is the Jr. Vice Commander for the Department of New York, MOPH said, “I never really measured my accomplishments. I keep moving on and doing what I can do for the veterans in my community. I am firm believe of the Harry S. Truman quote, ‘It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit,’ that has always been my motto, it has always been about lending a helping hand.”

“I am so happy that Willy has been selected for this great honor. He is someone that puts country before self and has always been a true advocate for all veterans throughout the state of New York,” said Senator Greg Ball the Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee. “America is not a great country because of its politicians, it’s a great country because of our veterans like Willy.”
