SENATOR BALL & PUTNAM COUNTY SHERIFF SMITH TO JOIN EFFORTS OF COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP TO COMBAT DRUG CRISIS
Brewster, N.Y. – 2/05/2013 – On Thursday, Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) and Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith will join the efforts of the Salomone and Christiansen families to combat drug abuse.
The two families, both of which recently lost a son to drug overdoses, are hosting a series of forums titled, ‘Drug Crisis In Our Backyard.’ The purpose of the forums are to promote awareness and provide resources and support to those individuals and their families affected by drug addiction.
“The Salomone and Christiansen family are truly doing God’s work. I am honored to join them in their mission to raise awareness about this epidemic,” Ball said. “As their State Senator they have my full support and I will do everything in my power to assist in their efforts.”
“All of us in law enforcement work very hard to keep illegal drugs off our streets and out of our communities. However, education and awareness are essential elements in the war on drugs. It is important that all of our residents are armed with information and knowledge that will help them protect their families against the scourge of illicit drugs,” said Sheriff Smith. “I strongly believe that every parent needs this type of information to help protect our most precious gifts and blessings, our children and grandchildren.”
According to the Salmone’s and the Christiansen’s, the forum will be an open interactive environment to discuss and better understand the drug crisis that is in our homes, on our streets and all around us. They are inviting the community to come learn the signs of drug abuse from community members that have experienced it first-hand. Experts will also be on hand to explain how to fight this epidemic and keep families safe.
The forum will take place on Thursday February 7th from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Phoenix House Academy located at 3151 Stoney Street in Mohegan Lake, New York. Seating is limited so those planning on attending are asked to RSVP at (914) 582-8384 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
