Brewster, N.Y. – 8/2/2012 – Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C) along with the Business Council of Westchester will be hosting a public-private partnership roundtable on August 23rd from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM at the Mount Kisco Public Library.
Mr. John Ravitz, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Business Council of Westchester said, “We support the concept of private public partnerships as another tool to help us create economic development in Westchester County and we look forward to continuing to have a strong line of communication with Senator Ball in this area.”
According to a report by the National Conference of State Legislatures, “a variety of factors have negatively affected state’s ability to pay for necessary maintenance of transportation infrastructure and to build new capacity to keep pace with and encourage economic development and job creation.”
The report by the National Conference of State Legislatures further explains, “In this difficult economic environment, public-private partnerships have been increasingly studied and pursued by state policymakers as one alternative method, among others, to procure transportation infrastructure improvements. Such partnerships combine a leveraged mix of public and private dollars to better bridge the gap between transportation needs and the financial resources available to meet those needs.”
Senator Ball will be gathering feedback from members of the Business Council of Westchester and other private and public sector leaders on his proposed public-private partnership legislation which is intended to enhance the procurement of public infrastructure improvements and to encourage economic development and job creation.
