Cortlandt Manor , N.Y. – (11/30/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C-Patterson) joined forty-five soldiers and their families at a deployment ceremony at Camp Smith this Sunday. Members of the 727th Military Police Law & Order Detachment left for Fort Bliss, Texas where they will train for overseas deployment.

After receiving their police certification the 727th is expected to depart for Afghanistan in late December and return home by fall of 2012. Guest speakers included 53rd Troop Commander BG Michael C. Swezey, New York Army National Guard Commander MG Patrick A. Murphy.

The 727 th was formed in 2003 and is designed to provide safety and security for military personnel using basic law and order procedures. The unit was deployed to Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq in 2006-2007 and currently approximately one half of the unit is employed amongst local and state law enforcement agencies.
