Brewster, N.Y. – 3/17/2012 – Senator Greg Ball’s (Patterson – R, C, I) joined Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith to present Matthew Dambra of Patterson Troop 440 in the town of Patterson with a New York State Senate Proclamations for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
Eagle Scout is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The Eagle Scout is an honor that is held for life and is said, “once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”
“Matt has followed in his brother’s footsteps and is making all of us very proud. I congratulate his parents and family on this special day,” said Senator Greg Ball. “A very small percentage of scouts ever make it to this ranking and I would like to congratulate Matt on all his hard work to achieve this great honor.”
For Matt’s project he worked closely with Dean Stitchbury from Camp Herlich. Camp Herlich is a local day and night camp for children. Their petting zoo had been damaged by a storm that came through the area. We tore down old fence, cleared out overgrown brush and built an entirely new fence. Matt recruited volunteers from family, friends, his troop and even an exchange student from Mantova, Italy to help out. All together Matt organized a total of over 250 total man-hours.
Matt is the 16th scout from troop 440 to achieve the rank of Eagle.
