PoJo: Health-exchange legislation on hold

6/27/2011 - The governor and lawmakers had an agreement on establishing a state health-insurance exchange, but the bill was removed from the Senate agenda late last week after some Republicans balked at complying with the federal law that requires the marketplaces.

Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, Putnam County, said he asked that the bill be pulled and some other GOP senators felt the same way.

“This is the first-phase implementation for ‘Obamacare’ and I stand strongly against doing anything that would bring about the implementation of Obamacare,” he said, referring to a term often used by opponents of the federal Affordable Care Act. (READ MORE)
