The Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum held its Sixth Annual Celebrity Waiters Brunch fundraiser at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie on March 25.

More than $20,000 was raised through sponsors, attendance, raffles, a silent auction and the waiters working for tips. Celebrity waiters served drinks to the crowd of more than 200 and participated in a legs contest in which the audience chose a winner in four categories: Gorilla Legs, Chicken Legs, Most Athletic and Smooth as Silk. A panel of celebrity judges decided the Best in Show and two runner-ups.

The celebrity waiters included: Jeffrey Pyle of Empire Cruise Lines; Sean Landeta, former New York Giant; Dan Scavino, vice president of the Trump Organization; Bobby Gropper of My Brother Bobby’s Salsa; Kirk Imperati, undersheriff of Dutchess County; New York State Senator Greg Ball; Luis Roddi-Adrian of United Health Care; Franco Giangrasso, owner of County Carburator; Dutchess County Comptroller Jim Coughland; Patrick Manning, Shepard and Fundraising Professional; Mike Mazzuca of Riverside Bank; and Michael Bello of New York State Environmental Conservation Police and the Hudson Valley Regional Police Pipe and Drum. Celebrity judges included: attorney Jonna Spilbor; Sondra Faas of the Fit Squad; Keryl Pece, author of “Happy Bitch” and Donna Reyer of Cablevision News. Bill Beale served as the event’s emcee.

This event helped raise much-needed funds for the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, a nonprofit organization on the Poughkeepsie waterfront.

The museum was chartered by the New York State Department of Education in 1989 and has continued to be an educational resource, tourist attraction and catalyst for economic growth for the the Hudson River waterfront and the region. The museum is open six days a week (closed on Mondays) and offers exhibits, programs, birthday parties, workshops and group visits for children through 10 years old. (ARTICLE)
