Carmel, N.Y. – (3/30/12) – Over 30 women from throughout the Hudson Valley were honored at Senator Greg Ball’s (R, C – Patterson) Women of Distinction Hall of Fame. Among them was, Antoinette De Bellis who was recognized for her distinguished volunteer service and civic commitment as a Woman of Distinction representing the Town of Carmel, New York.

Created and hosted by Senator Ball, The Women Of Distinction Hall of Fame was designed to honor outstanding women from throughout the 40th Senate District. Each city, town and village within the Senator’s district was asked to nominate a woman to be honored at the event. All the nominees were formally honored and inducted in the Hall of Fame at a district-wide ceremony at The Donald B. Smith, Putnam County Emergency Services Building in Carmel, NY.

Antoinette De Bellis, a local business woman in Westchester and Putnam counties and a breast cancer survivor, has been a tireless volunteer for many different organizations and causes. Ms. De Bellis is the owner of De Bellis Agency, a local small business now associated with The Albano Agency in Mahopac.

Ms. De Bellis currently serves as a Board member of Community Cares, a community-based not-for-profit with a network of volunteers and businesses operating with the main goal to support families in medical crisis, such as families with school-aged children whose parent is undergoing a major medical diagnosis, like cancer or debilitating treatments. Ms. De Bellis also volunteers with the Jimmy McDonough Foundation, which offers financial assistance to families struggling with a medical crisis.

Ms. De Bellis has served as president of the Austin Road Elementary School Parent Teacher Association, and has volunteered with the Mahopac Sports Association, the Putnam County Columbus Day Festival, the Italian American Club of Mahopac, DARE, and Mahopac Schools and Putnam Valley Schools safe driving programs.

From raising funds to help a friend, to just sitting in a chair to be with someone who is ill, Ms. De Bellis is grateful to all who inspire her and this gives her the motivation and strength to help others.

“The woman who are here today were nominated by their communities, hand-picked because they chose a path of leadership, living a life of service before self,” said Senator Greg Ball. “Each one of these women here today is so well deserving of this honor because they have built a reputation of action, compassion and integrity a path that that stands as an example to all.”
