Yorktown Heights, N.Y. – 02/25/2014 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson), Chairman of the New York State Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, installed volunteers at the Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps (Carmel VAC) Installation Dinner on Friday evening at Sinapi’s Ceola Manor in Yorktown Heights.
The Carmel VAC 2014 board of directors include: James Lowe, President; Claire Forde, Vice President; Cynthia Jacobsen, Treasurer; Catherine McGuire, Secretary; Cathleen O’Brien, Recording Secretary; Anthony Borelli, Corresponding Secretary and Jennifer Efferen, Administrative Assistant.
2014 operations officers include: David Jacobsen, Captain; Robert Andrews III, Captain; Robert Behan, 1st Lieutenant; Cathleen O’Brien, 2nd Lieutenant and Niko Conde, Lieutenant.
According to their website, The Carmel VAC was established in 1968. They are Emergency Medical System first response agency serving the Hamlet of Carmel. The primary purpose of the Carmel VAC is to provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured in the Hamlet of Carmel and surrounding areas.
Today there are 63 members made up of EMTs, drivers and attendants. The Carmel VAC has 11 Youth Corp members ranging in age from 16 to 18. Youth Corps Members attend high school and assist our regular members on calls, according to the Carmel VAC website.
