Mahopac Business Tour

Mahopac, N.Y. – 11/01/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) joined US Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (D – Cold Spring) for a “Main Street Listening” Tour in Mahopac on Friday morning.

“The Mahopac business district is a vital economic corridor in Putnam County. I am happy to work together with Congressman Maloney to enhance the small business climate for business owners and residents not only in Mahopac, but for the entire Hudson Valley Region,” said Senator Greg Ball. “Our ma and pa shops in Mahopac have so many wonderful goods and services to offer, they also have a unique insight into the red tape and obstacles that government often creates. I look forward to continuing my friendship with Congressman Maloney as we work in unison for a brighter and more prosperous future for all our constituents.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of communities like Mahopac and drive economic growth in the Hudson Valley,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.  “I ran my own company – I know how difficult running a business can be. Unfortunately, many small businesses in the Hudson Valley still face bureaucratic hurdles and government red tape. I am eager to roll up my sleeves and partner with our local business leaders, Senator Ball and Assemblyman Katz to reduce unnecessary regulations and help our hardworking business excel and grow.”

Senator Greg Ball and Rep. Maloney spoke with local business owners and community leaders about partnering together to help strengthen small businesses in the Hudson Valley. Led by Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce and the Putnam Chamber of Commerce, local officials stopped by multiple small businesses including Mahopac Marine, Kobu Asian Bistro, and South Side Inn and Grille. At a roundtable, businesses and local leaders discussed regulations, taxes and economic development opportunities.

“As result of today, the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce looks forward to helping the town of Carmel, the Downtown Mahopac businesses, property owners, and the Mahopac Chamber of Commerce to work together to identify priorities, put a plan in place to implement in order to create a more attractive, pedestrian friendly commerce district,” said Jennifer Maher, Chairwoman Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.

“Today was a productive starting point in what will hopefully become a concerted effort between businesses, Chambers and Government to produce lasting change for the downtown Mahopac district,” said Mike Bucci, CEO of the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce.
