Albany, N.Y. – 2/4/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) has been reappointed by Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos to Chair the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs.
“As a former Air Force Officer and Air Force Academy graduate, it is a great honor to be renamed as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs,” Senator Ball said. “I am excited to continue the work for our veterans and to protect our citizens here in New York State.”
As Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs Committee, Senator Ball will play a significant role in supporting veterans throughout New York State by crafting legislation, working on job creation, creating business incentives and honoring veterans and their families. The committee is also responsible for working with law enforcement to develop legislation and provide funding to keep vigilant on homeland security throughout New York State.
“With so many New Yorkers serving our country overseas, it is critically important that our state does everything it can to support them and their families here at home, as well as to help ensure our security and safety,” Senate Majority Coalition Co-Leader Dean Skelos said. “With that in mind, there is simply no one better to serve as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs than Senator Greg Ball. His strong military experience in the Air Force makes him the ideal person for the job and I’m confident he will continue to be an outstanding leader on these issues.”
“The opportunity to continue to serve as Chairman of the Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs is an important responsibility that I take very seriously,” Ball said. “We need to continue to strive to find lasting solutions to provide support for veterans in our communities. I will continue my efforts to enact veteran friendly laws, strengthen opportunities in state contracting for service-disabled veterans, continue to honor veterans and their families and also work to reinforce laws to protect New York’s homeland security.”
In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs Committee, Ball will also serve on the Cities Committee, Elections Committee, Labor Committee, Local Government Committee, Mental Health Committee, Social Services Committee and the Health Committee.
