UWUA: “Thanks alone are not enough to express our gratitude.”

Carmel, N.Y. – 10/4/2012 – Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C) today announced that he has received the endorsement of the Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA).

In a letter by UWUA President Harry Farrell and Vice President James Slevin, the UWUA went above and beyond simply endorsing him; they also thanked him for his support of the ConEd workers who were locked out during the summer.

“We cannot thank you enough for the support you gave us during the unprecedented lockout of our Members by Con Edison this past July,” the letter stated. “Your support, your efforts and your action this past July provided a much needed boost of morale to our Members who found themselves suddenly unemployed through no fault of their own.”

Senator Ball said that the endorsement by the UWUA indicates his strong work to protect jobs in New York.

“We need to focus on creating more jobs in New York, and we need to stand up and fight like hell when New York jobs are threatened,” Sen. Ball said. “I was proud to stand with the members of the UWUA when they were locked out by Con Edison, a move that threatened to put 8,500 hard working New Yorkers on the unemployment line. And, I am proud to receive and accept the endorsement of the UWUA to continue as State Senator for the 40th District.”

In addition to Sen. Ball’s support of the UWUA members who were locked out by ConEd, Senator Ball has received strong support from the labor unions in the past for his pro-labor legislation and votes, including his leadership on prevailing wage legislation and his work to keep New York jobs for New York workers. Most recently, Senator Ball introduced S5304A, which prohibits New York’s utility companies from being owned by any foreign person or company.
