Brewster, N.Y. – 11/1/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) issued the following statement in regards to the on going fiasco involving Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy.
“Putnam County has seen dark days before, but the revelations this week concerning our District Attorney are simply beyond the pale. First, the District Attorney seems to proactively admit from the outset to having an illegal alien living in his home. I join many in Putnam County who believe that this alone would be enough to demand the DA’s resignation and this alone has left many in Putnam County scratching their head in disbelief. To add insult to injury, the DA has consistently told the public that he was staying out of this case, yet after the Journal News broke stories about his involvement earlier this month, the DA has now admitted he helped fund the defense. In further reporting, emails show Levy’s involvement extended to sharing information from law enforcement and questions have arisen as to whether Levy specifically communicated to how the grand jury actually voted. Attempting to clear his illegal alien friend of child-rape charges Levy evidently shared insider information including personal medical information pertaining to the victim herself. Enough is enough, and I am asking Adam Levy to either step down or join me in my call requesting that Governor Cuomo appoint an independent, special prosecutor to fully investigate the current fiasco in Putnam County. Sadly, as voters in Putnam County are left in disbelief, ‘Club Putnam’ remains silent in asking for such a resignation. The silence is deafening. In fact only the Sheriff of Putnam, Donald Smith, has had the courage to stand up and be heard and he is to be applauded for his efforts. All of this leaves good people to question why any elected DA would fund the defense of an alleged child rapist who is also an illegal alien. Simply put, it is time for a full and independent investigation from above. I ask that all caring public servants in Putnam County now join me in this request to the Governor, and I extend such an opportunity to Levy himself to make the exact same request, and to restore the public’s trust and clear his good name, if not he needs to resign immediately,” said Senator Greg Ball.
