Brewster, N.Y. – (1/19/12) – On Thursday, Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) visited facilities in Oneida County with Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R-Rome) to meet and discuss New York state homeland security issues. Senator Griffo and Senator Ball are members of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, of which Senator Ball serves as the committee’s chairman.

The first visit was to the Eastern Air Defense Sector facility in Rome where they toured the center and met with Air National Guard operations personnel. The second visit was to the NYS Homeland Security & Emergency Services Training Center where the Senators toured the facility and met with program directors and staff.

“There may come a time when we need to bring together the homeland security resources from around  the region and we need to be fully prepared for that day,” Senator Ball said. “By touring the facilities in my district and outside of my district, I’m able to gain a better understanding of the resources at our disposal and the improvements that need to be made to ensure that New York is prepared for any disaster that comes our way.“

The Senators were joined by Jim Sherry, the executive deputy commissioner of NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
