Patterson, N.Y. – (1/15/2012) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C –Patterson) joined The Plaza at Clover Lake to announce Putnam county’s first assisted living program. This much needed facility will provide seniors who cannot live at home, but do not need the more intensive care of a nursing home, a full-service assisted living residence.
“I congratulate the Plaza at Clover Lake for offering more high-quality services in becoming Putnam County’s first fully-licensed, assisted living program,” Senator Greg Ball said. “It is very heart wrenching to see families separated because of their need to work several jobs and be away from home. Plus for a long time there has been a real need for affordable and local care in our area, allowing seniors to age in place. This is a very affordable resource that allows families to live within miles of their loved ones especially during their times of need. I am glad we will now, for the first time, be able to offer this option to the residents of Putnam County.”
Located at 838 Fair Street in Carmel, NY, The Plaza will be the first facility in Putnam County to offer the fast-growing Assisted Living model of senior care with both market rate and affordable options. Residents will have individual apartments, combined with supportive services such as housekeeping, food service, transportation, and other licensed, health-related services such as medication assistance and personal care management, all designed to help seniors maintain independent lives, but with the choice and privacy not available in a typical nursing home setting.
“This is the best possible environment for an individual who needs some level of supportive services in order to remain independent as they age, but are not ready for a traditional nursing home,” said Susan Bey, Executive Director of the Plaza. “Putnam’s seniors have been asking for something like this for many years, and I am proud that The plaza at Clover Lake will now be able to provide it.”
