Mount Pleasant, N.Y. – 10/09/2012 – Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C) was at the Mount Pleasant Town Hall on Tuesday night to accept their nomination Stephen Loia into Senator Ball’s 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
The Veterans’ Hall of Fame was created by Senator Ball, and designed to honor outstanding veterans from throughout the 40th Senate District. Each veteran that will be honored will be included on a traveling wall that will tour local municipalities throughout the 40th district.
Stephen Loia enlisted and honorably served in the United States Air Force from December 5, 1950 until December 4, 1954. Upon completion of his basic training at Lockland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas he was sent to Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi for 32 weeks of Airborne Radio Operator School. In November, 1951 he has assigned to the Far East Air Force and sent to Haneda Air Force Base in Tokyo, Japan for 2 and ½ years. His Duties as an Airborne Radio Operator was on various aircraft maintaining radio contact with ground stations. The Far East Air Force was responsible for transporting Unites States peace treaty personnel in and out of Korea during the Korean conflict.
Following his military service Stephen Loia working for 18 years in quality control at Precision Laboratories in Pleasantville. The last 20 years of his working career he worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as section chief in the quality control division.
“Mr. Loia has been a wonderful man in our town,” said Supervisor Joan Maybury. “He is a wonderful example of what veterans do for communities and we are very privileged to have him part of ours.”
“This is certainly one of the most prestigious honors that I have ever received,” said Stephen Loia. “I would like to thank Supervisor Maybury for nominating me and I would like to thank Senator Greg Ball for creating the Veterans Hall of Fame. This is a magnificent feeling; it is truly an honor and a privilege.”

Mount Plesant has hand-picked Stephen because he has chosen a path of courage, honor, integrity and bravery, a path that helped shape America as we know it, protecting our way of life and liberty,” said Senator Greg Ball. “America is not a great country because of its politicians; it’s a great country because of veterans like Stephen.”
