Yorktown, N.Y. – 10/02/2012 – Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C) was at the Yorktown Town Hall on Tuesday night to continue his town hall tour and also to accept Yorktown’s Veteran nomination for the 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
The town hall jobs tour is designed to provide communities with an update following this year’s legislative session. Senator Greg Ball provided an update on issues including the recently passed property tax cap, balanced New York State budget, MTA Tax Repeal, job creation initiatives, lowest middle class tax rate, and also issues affecting seniors, women, children and animals.
During Senator Ball’s visit, the Yorktown Town Board posthumously nominated Robert Perry into Senator Ball’s 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame. Robert Perry served in the 7th Cavalry as a technician 5th grade for 2 years and 10 months. For his service Perry received the Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and also the Philippines Liberation Ribbon.
After his service Perry served for over 60 years in the Yorktown Fire Department and was also a member of VFW post 8328. Robert Perry passed away in May of 2009 and will be posthumously honored in the 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
The Veterans’ Hall of Fame was created by Senator Ball, and designed to honor outstanding veterans from throughout the 40th Senate District. Each veteran that will be honored will be included on a traveling wall that will tour local municipalities throughout the 40th district.
“I’m visiting with my constituents and fellow elected officials to hear their concerns and listen to their feedback. I remain totally focused on limiting government, cutting taxes and creating good, local, high paying jobs by finishing the good things I have started, in partnership with my Senate colleagues and Governor Cuomo. It is critically important for me to regularly meet with the local leadership in my rather large district to develop concrete goals moving into the next legislative session. I am here to help in absolutely anyway I can, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I am honored to accept Yorktown’s nomination of their Mr. Perry. He chose a path of courage, honor, integrity and bravery; a path that helped shape America, as we know it, protecting our way of life and liberty. America is not a great country because of its politicians, it’s a great country because of its veterans like Mr. Perry.”
“Robert Perry was a man of service to his community, his family and his country. He is someone that we should all be proud to have honored and is a very good choice for the 40th Senate District Veterans’ Hall of Fame,” said Yorktown Town Supervisor Michael Grace.
