Brewster, N.Y. – 7/16/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee is happy to announce, that as a result of a three-way agreement between the Governor, Senate and Assembly, a $2,500 bullet aid grant has been awarded to the Nimham Mountain Singers for their 13th Annual Nimham Powwow.
The Nimham Mountain Singers, formed in 1999, is a group of singers with the goal of fostering, preserving and rediscovering traditional Native American beliefs, values and spirituality.
On August 18 and 19th from 10am – 6pm the Nimham Mountain Singers will host their 13th Annual Nimham Powwow to help raise money for Tower of Hope Foundation and Wounded Warriors, two organizations aimed at helping wounded veterans. The grant will be used to help offset the cost of dancers at the Powwow and also to help promote the event.
“I am so glad to announce this grant for the Nimham Mountain Singers. They do so many wonderful things for our community, including their annual Powow. Each year this event brings together thousands of residents to celebrate Native American cultural,” said Senator Greg Ball. “This year promises to be extra special because the funds raised will benefit our wounded veterans.”
“As the weather continues to get hotter and hotter, funds are drying up all over. This grant really helps us out. We do this event every year for the families of the Hudson Valley and for our veterans,” said Gil Tarbox, of the Nimham Mountain Singers. “It makes me feel great that Senator Ball is thinking about us and concerned about helping veterans. He is doing a great job.”
