Brewster, N.Y. – 7/29/2013 –Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee is happy to announce that The Lewisboro Library will receive a total of $61,710 in state grants for a planned expansion.
Ball has successfully secured a $25,000 bullet aid grant for the library and has also recently announced a $36,710 construction grant awarded by The New York State Library.
“Working with local partners, including Supervisor Parsons and former Supervisor Duffy, I am so happy to announce these funds for the Lewisboro Library,” said Senator Greg Ball. “The Lewisboro Library serves as an educational center for the town, a community center for residents to gather and also serves as the location for their town board meetings. I will continue to fight for the residents of Lewisboro to deliver more grants to bring as much of our tax money home, where it belongs.”
The grants will be used to renovate and expand the Lewisboro Library by 1,470 square feet to a total of 7,170 square feet. The addition will increase the size of the children’s room, staff work space and conference room for the public. The library also has a goal to improve energy efficiency by replacing their existing flat membrane roof and skylight in order to reduce energy costs and improve natural lighting.
Town Supervisor Peter Parsons was very happy to join Senator Ball to make the announcement.
“Thanks Greg for one more brick in the Yellow Brick Road,” said Parsons. “Lewisboro’s citizens have waited too long for a renovated library and this grant is a big step closer.”
“The Lewisboro library is in the process of raising money to renovate and expand our building. We hope to break ground in September,” said Cindy Rubio, Lewisboro Library Director. “This grant will be invaluable. We are very grateful to Senator Ball for his help.”
