Brewster, N.Y. – (12/19/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) visited the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party where volunteers with Toys For Tots were collecting gifts for underprivileged children. Ball said he encourages everyone to take the time to donate a toy this holiday season.

“In these tough economic times, charities like Toys For Tots are helping to keep the magic of the holidays alive for the children in our communities,” Ball said. “The holidays are ultimately about giving and it’s a great feeling to know that your gift put a smile on a young child’s face.”

Toys For Tots volunteer and former Marine Al Laughlin said he’s been collecting toys for the past 6 years, and he added that each year the collections grow larger and larger.

“I have 26 boxes around town in banks and stores,” Laughlin said. “I’ve collected over 2,000 toys this year in Yorktown alone.”
