Fundraiser Tomorrow at Putnam Golf Course
Albany, N.Y. – 03/06/2014 – In recognition of National Lymphedema Awareness Day, Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) honored Connor Looby, of Mahopac, with a New York State Senate Resolution recognizing his outstanding advocacy, support, and fundraising efforts for lymphedema awareness.
Connor Looby is a seven-year-old boy that currently attends Austin Road Elementary School in Mahopac. Connor was diagnosed with intestinal lymphangiectasia, a rare lymphatic disease. Connor Looby has worked tirelessly despite significant health issues, including having had multiple hospitalizations, being on a low-fat, restricted diet, receiving daily physical therapy and undergoing weekly infusions.
“Connor is an incredibly smart and brave boy. His story and motivation is truly inspiring and can serve as an example to all of us. Despite his health conditions, he is extremely active participating in football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and basketball,” said Senator Greg Ball. “It was my absolute honor to meet Connor and to recognize him on the New York State Senate Floor.”
Connor Looby began his fundraising and awareness efforts at the young age of 6, when he and his family and friends formed a team for the tri-State Tuxedo Spartan Sprint, an obstacle race course in Tuxedo, New York, to raise awareness and funds for lymphatic disease research. Connor Looby continued fundraising after his obstacle race event, raising money for the 2013 Walk for Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases.
In September 2013, at the Walk for Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases, the Lymphatic Education & Research Network honored Connor Looby with the McKenna Shea Johnson Youth Ambassador Award for his outstanding efforts.
Tomorrow, (March, 7th) “Connor’s Spartans” will host a night of entertainment to benefit the Lymphatic Education and Research Network. The night will feature home-style caterers, live music and dancing. Connor will also be honoring his Physicians; Dr. Vicki Iannotti and Dr. Subhadra Siegel. The event will be hosted at the Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac, tickets are $75 per person. For more information, contact Jennifer Looby at (845) 661- 4898 or email@example.com.
