Albany, N.Y. – 6/04/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs Committee honored Lieutenant Jake Hauser of North Salem for his service in the U.S. Coast Guard on the New York State Senate Floor.
“I have known Jake for several years, and he is a very ambitious young man with a great future ahead. It is my honor to present him with this Senate Proclamation for his service to our country,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I wish him luck as he prepares for his deployment to Japan.”
“It was a tremendous honor to be invited onto the Senate floor during session, and to receive a proclamation from Senator Ball. His career in service has been an example to me since I was in high school,” said Lieutenant Hauser.
Lieutenant Hauser returned on May 10th, 2013 from his deployment as a Deck Watch Officer in the North Pacific, Bering Sea and Arctic Ocean for the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter MUNRO (WHEC-724) based in Kodiak AK. Lieutenant Hauser has logged over a year at sea.
In July Lieutenant Hauser will be deployed with the US Navy to serve aboard the USS Patriot (MCM-7), a minesweeper based in Sasebo Japan, as head of her Navigation and Administration Departments, and as a Surface Warfare Officer trainee.
Lieutenant Hauser’s duties have included Assistant Navigator, Education Services Officer, Funds Auditor, Fire Control Officer, Assistant Weapons Officer and Public Affairs Officer. Hauser received the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation for his work and is rated as a ‘Cutterman’.
Lieutenant Hauser was born and raised in North Salem. He graduated from the Coast Guard Academy as a Government Major in 2011, where he served as the first American Vice President of the International Council, Senior Editor of the Cadet Online Journal Program and the only Service endorsed and State Department endorsed Fulbright Scholar Candidate in his class.
