SENATOR GREG BALL SECURES $100K GRANT FOR BREWSTER HIGH SCHOOL TRACK

Brewster, N.Y. – (1/29/12) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) successfully secured $100,000 for the Brewster Central School District, which will be used to help offset costs for badly needed renovations to the outdoor track at Brewster High School. Senator Ball presented the school district with a $100,000 check on Saturday at the Brewster Sports Foundation 2012 Gala.

“As a region, we pay some of the highest taxes in the state, and while I am a limited government guy I believe it is critical that we fight for our fair share of the budget,” said Senator Ball. “I also know that the lessons learned on the athletic field are just as important as those learned in the classroom, and supporting athletic programs in this tough economy remains essential. I support this investment and will continue to fight and deliver for Brewster.”

The track is estimated to cost $250,000, and Brewster Sports Foundation President John Frates said they plan to raise the rest of the money through private fundraising.

“On behalf of the Brewster Sports Foundation I would like to thank Senator Ball,” Frates said. “We are honored to participate with Senator Ball in utilizing state funds along with private funds to restore the outdoor track at Brewster High School.”
