Brewster, N.Y.— 1/26/2012— Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) said he does not support a plan to reduce the transportation reimbursement for parochial school students from 15 miles to 5 miles. The reduction is included in the 2012-2013 state budget proposal.

“The families that choose to send their children to parochial school are still paying school taxes and this busing is one of the few tangible benefits they receive,” Senator Ball said. “Hard working families struggling to give their children greater opportunities should not be consistently targeted by our state government. If this proposal becomes a reality, many families will be unnecessarily hurt.”
