THE PATCH: BALL SECURES $100,000 STATE GRANT

By Kerry Barger

State Sen. Greg Ball (R-NY) presented a $100,000 check to the Town of Patterson Recreation Center this morning to assist with the building’s renovations.

Though it is a state grant, the project will come at no additional cost to Putnam County residents or to citizens of New York state. Ali Skinner, the senator’s director of operations, said Ball used leftover funds from former state senator Vincent Leibell that had yet to be appropriated.

“I would like say thank you to Sen. Ball for his hard work and determination in securing this grant for us,” said Town of Patterson Recreation Director Mark Chibbaro. “Taxpayers will save $100,000 dollars on this project.”

The Patterson Recreation Center currently serves thousands of Putnam County residents and operates 80 hours per week. The center offers a variety of programs and camps for budding sports players. (READ MORE)
