On Tuesday, March 13th at 7:30 p.m. a representative from Senator Greg Ball’s (R, C – Patterson) office will honor Sheila M. Guida and Marie Turner as the Town of Cortlandt’s nominations for his Women of Distinction Hall of Fame.

Both Guida and Turner have resided in Cortlandt throughout their lives, and serve on many boards including the Hudson Valley Hospital Center Auxiliary.

Guida  has also served as an officer of the Feeny Park Boys Club, organizing many fundraisers to support the club and furnish equipment. In addition, she is the chairperson of the Nor-Cort Seniors Club “Cookies for Vets” collection and the co-chair of “Lap Robes for Vets” program. Guida was the 2008 inductee into the Westchester County Senior Hall of Fame.

Turner is also on the Board of Directors of the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society, a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church choir, a member of the Nor-Cort Seniors Club, maintains the Petal Garden as a member of the Peekskill-Cortlandt Garden club and handles fundraising for the 9/11 Remembrance Memorial Task Force.

The senator asked leaders of each town, village, and city within the 40th Senate District to choose a nominee. The group of women will be formally inducted during a ceremony to be held on March 30th at Putnam County Emergency Services Center . (ARTICLE)
