Milan Nominates “Stanley” for Ball’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame

Milan, N.Y.  – (09/20/11) – A new twist on a Town Hall Tour in Milan, N.Y., where Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) stopped by for a legislative update. The town board nominated resident Stanley Zatwarnicki to represent the community at Senator Ball’s First Annual Hudson Valley Veterans’ Hall of Fame. The event, which is being held on November 10th, is a chance to honor outstanding veterans throughout the 40th district for their commitment to their country.

A World War II veteran who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944 (D-Day), Mr. Zatwarnicki served on active duty from 1942-1945. A proud member of the United States Army,  he was transferred from the Army Band to the Tank Corp under General George S. Patton. In addition to serving his country, Mr. Zatwarnicki has also served his community, volunteering his time at the Thompson House, where he played harmonica for residents, and at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, where he now volunteers at the gift ship.

Senator Ball has requested that each town within the 40th Senate District nominated a veteran to represent its community at the First Annual Hudson Valley Veterans’ Hall of Fame. The inductees will be honored at a ceremony, followed by a first-of-its-kind Hudson Valley Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner, taking place on November 12th, and Veterans’ Hearing, taking place on November 15th at West Point Military Academy.
