Brewster, N.Y. – (1/19/12) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) said he is pleased to announce that his fight to increase the funding for New York State’s Veterans Homes is a victory.

“I salute and applaud Governor Cuomo and his staff for making Veterans a priority and guarantying that they get the care they deserve,” Senator Ball said. “I’m glad to see that our leaders realize that the men and women who have fought for our freedom deserve our fullest attention and care, regardless of how tough the economic climate is.”

Last year, more than $10.9 million was initially removed from the budget for veterans homes, but Senator Ball successfully fought for this lifeline to be reinstated. This year, the general funding for the SUNY Veterans Home received an increase of $440,000, and the general funding for veterans homes in New York City, Oxford, Montrose and Batavia remained the same.

“This federal program is a net cash positive for us and brings in over $6 million per year to New York State government coffers,” Senator Ball explained.
