Yorktown Heights, N.Y. – (4/29/12) Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) presented William Jeremiah O’Brien Jr. of Yorktown with a proclamation for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at the United Methodist Church in Yorktown Heights.

“It is a pleasure to be here today with William. There are only a small percent of scouts that ever make it to this ranking and I would like to congratulate William for all his hard work to achieve this great honor, said Senator Greg Ball. “William is a great leader that we can all be proud of. I look forward to great things from him in the future.”

When asked about his Eagle Scout achievement William said, “It feels pretty good. The main thing that shocked me was, initially when I started to prepare for my Eagle project I was doing it for myself, but somewhere along the line that changed; it stopped being about me and became about the community. It has been a very fun road.”

For his Eagle Scout project William worked on the Peekskill – Briarcliff hiking trail where he constructed a 16 foot bridge, cleared vegetation and constructed a 100 foot walkway for all to enjoy.

William plans to attend Clarkson University in the fall to study civil engineering and run track.
