New York, N.Y. – (3/08/13) – Senator Greg Ball, (R,C,I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs, was named ‘Person of The Year’ by the Associated Licensed Detectives of New York State (ALDONYS) on Friday night.
The Associated Licensed Detectives of NYS, Inc. has been a leading advocate for the licensed private investigative and security guard industry since its formation in 1950. Its mission is to support, promote and facilitate the provision of professional investigative and security services of the highest caliber of reliability and integrity.
The ‘Person of the Year’ Award recognizes a person who exemplifies ALDONYS commitment to public security.
“It is an amazing honor for me to receive this award,” Senator Ball said. “The men and women at ALDONYS many times put their lives in harm’s way to protect critical infrastructure and keep us safe. As a state we are terrorist target number one, and we must do more to help these brave men and women to protect our soft underbelly. I join all of my colleagues in saluting them for the work they do every day. I look forward to continuing my work with them to move New York State forward and to ensure our State and Nation remain safe for all our residents.”
The program also included recognition of investigators and security guards who have distinguished themselves with their service to ALDONYS professionalism. The Eugene R. Rink Award was given to John “Jack” Goldsborough of T & M Protection Resources, LLC. Investigator of the Year award was given to David E. Zeldin of INVESTICORP, Inc. The Security Officer of the Year award was given to Michael Harned of Summit Security Services, Inc. The Special Appreciation Award for service to the Security and Investigative industries was given to Mike Lehner of The Mechanic Group. The Military Service Special Recognition Award was given to Nicholas M. Auletta of Summit Security Services, Inc.
Outgoing President of The Associated Licensed Detectives of New York State Theresa A. Balfe said, “The person of the year award recognizes a person who exemplifies our commitment to public security. A person that stands out above the rest, a person with true professionalism and integrity, this person is person is Senator Greg Ball.”
Former President and Chairman of the Board Robert S. Tucker said, “Greg Ball is not only a good friend of mine but he is a good friend of everyone in this room. Greg Ball represents exactly what we need in Albany.”
Since September 11th, 2001 the use of private security services in New York has increased by almost 60%. In April 2001 there were 102,087 registered security guards compared to 171,716 in April of 2012.
