Brewster, N.Y. – 7/09/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee is happy to announce, that as a result of a three-way agreement between the Governor, Senate and Assembly, another $80,000 bullet aid grant has been awarded to the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.

Last year Senator Ball secured an $80,000 state grant to allow the Katonah-Lewisboro School District to once again have a school resource officer. Last year, when Ball delivered this grant he made a pledge to continuing working to secure additional funding to allow for the continuation of this program. He has now delivered on that promise with an additional $80,000 grant for the 2013/2014 school year.

“In the wake of the horrific Sandy Hook event and other recent school shootings, I believe having a school resource officer is a vital tool to prevent these tragedies. I recently hosted two school safety roundtables and it has become clear that having police officers present in schools serves as not only a deterrent for evil but has proven to be very positive for our children,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I am happy to deliver again for the Katonah-Lewisboro School District and will continue to work with community partners to bring as much of our tax money back from Albany, home where it belongs.”

“During this time of fiscal constraint we are very pleased to receive this financial support,” said Mike Jumper, Assistant Superintendent for Business at Katonah-Lewisboro School District. “Through the cooperative efforts of Senator Ball, the Town of Lewisboro and the school district, these funds will continue to be used to pay for our School Resource Officer.”
